Fico awarded for development of social democracy in CEE

Prime Minister Robert Fico received the 'Der Rote Bock' prize in the German town of Gotha on Thursday for developing a social-democratic movement in Central and Eastern Europe. "After integrating a number of centre-left and left-wing parties we've managed over 20 years not only to establish a strong and stable social-democratic alternative to conservative, national and neo-liberal movements, but also to realise this through the exercise of executive power," said Fico upon receiving the accolade.
