Ex-president Klaus commemorates fall of communism

November 17th, 2020

Former Czech president Vaclav Klaus laid flowers at the plaque marking the November 1989 events in Narodni Street to commemorate the 31st anniversary of the collapse of the communist regime on Tuesday. "People should know that in 1989, a very undemocratic, non-functioning and non-prosperous regime was demolished and the country set out on the path to freedom, market economy and prosperity," Klaus, Czech prime minister in 1992-98, told reporters with a face mask removed from his face. He also gave a short speech outside the nearby Slavia cafe earlier.
