European Commission upgrades Poland's 2018 GDP growth forecast

The European Commission (EC) on Thursday upgraded its forecast of Poland's GDP growth rate in 2018 to 4.8 percent from 4.6 percent and cut its projection for the general government deficit to 0.9 percent of the GDP in 2018 and 2019. Earlier, the EC predicted a general government deficit of 1.4 percent both in 2018 and 2019. Under the current forecast, the deficit will go up to 1 percent in 2020. In 2019, the GDP growth is expected at 3.7 percent and in 2020 at 3.3 percent.
