The eurozone budget, proposed by Germany and France, cannot be created at the expense of the general budget, said Krzysztof Szczerski, the top aide to Polish President Andrzej Duda. The plan, announced on Tuesday by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron, foresees the possible introduction of a eurozone budget in 2021. According to Merkel, the euroland budget would serve EU investments and would reduce discrepancies between its member states. The budget of the monetary union is also to protect the eurozone countries against crises. Asked about the issue, Szczerski told PAP that one should wait with its assessment until the new plan has received a 'real dimension'. He added that a lot will depend on how this project will be presented and executed.
