European politicians must clearly claim Europe's being a Christian continent, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said at a Prague conference on the persecution of Christians today. There are groups in the EU that seek to eliminate the Christian legacy, said Szijjarto, who linked the issue with the problem of migration. When looked at, European history evidently shows that it is a Christian continent. European Christian politicians have to find enough courage to say this loudly, Szijjarto said. He criticised the fact that the Lisbon Treaty, which is the EU's basic legal document, contains no references to the Christian roots of European countries.
