Poland will receive over EUR 3.7 million from the EU's Infrastructure and Environment programme to co-finance the construction of a maritime communication system expected to improve navigation on the Baltic Sea, the Investment and Development Ministry said on Tuesday. The planned Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) will improve radio communication on Baltic waters, reducing response times to maritime distress signals. The total costs of the project are estimated at EUR 4.4 million.
