Employment in Slovak industry up 0.9 pc in Feb

Employment rose year-on-year in most sectors in February 2019, most rapidly in accommodation - by 8.4 percent, the Slovak Statistics Office reported on Friday. Annual increases were also recorded in the following sectors in February: in construction - by 7.9 percent; in selected market services - 7 percent; in restaurants and pubs - 6.4 percent; in information and communications activities - 5.2 percent; in the sale and repair of motor vehicles - 4.3 percent; in transport and warehousing - 4.1 percent; and in manufacturing - 0.9 percent. Conversely, employment in the retail sector went down by 2 percent, while in the wholesale sector it fell by 1.1 percent.
