November 16th, 2020
The Centre for Experimental Theatre in Brno will establish the Embassy of Independent Belarusian Culture that will open on November 17 in order to provide more information about the situation in Belarus, the centre's head Miroslav Oscatka has said. The embassy will open on November 17 symbolically as it is marked as the day of the fight for freedom and democracy in Czechia. Big street protests started in Belarus after the presidential election in August, in which Alexander Lukashenko had won according to the official result, but its critics point to election rigging. The European Union does not recognise Lukashenko, who has headed Belarus since 1994, as a legitimate president.
