The European Commission will discuss the state of the rule of law in Poland and its infringement procedures against Warsaw over supreme court reforms at its Wednesday sitting, a high-ranking EU source told PAP on Friday. The source said that the EC did not link the infringement procedure with the Polish Supreme Court's recent queries to the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), and assured that decisions in the infringement issue will not depend on the CJEU's response to the queries. Commenting on the possible outcome of Wednesday's debate, the source said it was "not optimistic" in the matter, but admitted that "miracles do happen."
