Commenting on the introduction of extraordinary inspections of imported Polish beef by the Czechs, EC spokesperson Anca Paduraru said on Friday that EU countries have a right to carry out food controls on their market, but they should be proportionate. Czech Agriculture Minister Miroslav Toman announced on Wednesday extraordinary controls of all beef imported from Poland, after Salmonella bacteria was found in a 700-kg batch of Polish meat.
