Dubcek film to mark 1968 anniversary

To mark the 50th anniversary of the civil resistance against the Warsaw Pact occupation in August 1968, both Czech and Slovak public service television stations will broadcast a movie called 'Dubcek', directed by Laco Halama, on August 21. Halama said that the young generation's very poor historical awareness and almost zero knowledge of the year 1968 and its protagonists were the main reasons why he decided to shoot the story of Alexander Dubcek.
