In reaction to OLaNO leader and potential future prime minister Igor Matovic's recent statement that returning the F-16 jets Slovakia has ordered from the USA isn't completely out of the picture for him as he's of the opinion that "it'd be dramatically cheaper for Slovakia", Defence Ministry spokesperson Danka Capakova stated on Wednesday that the procurement of the US aircraft was the best possible solution from the viewpoint of price and quality. Capakova noted that it will up to the next leadership of the Defence Ministry whether the aircraft will be returned in the end. She added that Slovak pilots who are supposed to operate the F-16 jets are currently being trained abroad and that Sliac air base (Banska Bystrica) is undergoing reconstruction in this context.
