Experts from the Ostrava zoo are assisting in the salvation of the Vietnamese sika deer, a subspecies that got extinct in the wild, and a new herd is to be released in China, the zoo spokeswoman Sarka Novakova has told CTK. "The Vietnamese sika deer has been killed out and only saved by farm breeding and in zoological gardens. At present, its new release is being planned in southern China. Experts from the Ostrava zoo have actively cooperated on the project, using the experience of the zoo's own sika breeding.
