The Czech police arrested 12 citizens of the former USSR countries this week and accused them of smuggling migrants from Southeast Asia, for which they face up to ten years in prison, National Organised Crime Centre (NCOZ) spokesman Jaroslav Ibehej told CTK on Friday. The international organised group comprising at least 35 people has been smuggling illegal migrants from Southeast Asia for over one year, Ibehej said. The police uncovered 16 cases of the gang smuggling or attempting to smuggle some hundred Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan and Vietnamese migrants from Ukraine to the Czech Republic and Germany.
