The Czech military will acquire the US Viper attack and Venom utility helicopters in 2023, Defence Minister Lubomir Metnar said during his visit to the Namest military base on Thursday. The combination of two types is more suitable than to acquire the Black Hawk utility helicopters only, said Metnar who accompanied Prime Minister Andrej Babis to the base. The defence ministry received two bids from the US government in late June. It offered 12 UH-60M Black Hawk utility helicopters worth 13.2 billion crowns (EUR 512m) or eight UH-1Y Venom utility helicopters and four Viper attack helicopters for 14.5 billion crowns.
