The vote on Ursula von der Leyen, elected the new president of the European Commission on Tuesday, divided Czech MEPs according to party groups. Representatives of three Czech parties, the Mayors and Independents, TOP 09 and the Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL), associated in the European People's Party (EPP), supported von der Leyen. The same was done by the MEPs elected for Prime Minister Andrej Babis's ANO, who make part of the liberal group Renew Europe. Czech MEPs from other European political groups did not vote for von der Leyen, they have told CTK.
