The Czech improvement in the Transparency International's (TI) corruption perception index (CPI) for 2018 may be fragile, judging by the recent developments concerning the suspected conflict of interest on the part of Prime Minister Andrej Babis, TI wrote today. It commented on its fresh CPI ratings for 2018, in which Czechia finished 38th out of the 180 states assessed, which is a year-on-year improvement by four positions. The Czech Republic saw an improvement in its two partial ratings that concern the conditions for launching and running busisness, but it was found stagnating in all remaining eight respects, TI wrote, adding that a few simple steps must be taken by Prague to really improve the situation. In its annual report, TI named Czechia among "the countries to watch".
