The government will set aside up to 205 million crowns (EUR 7.6m) to buy the drug Veklury with the agent remdesivir through the European Union from the firm Gilead Sciences, the Czech Government Office has told journalists. Right now, the Czech Republic was promised the delivery for the treatment of about 1,650 patients for October and increased deliveries for another two months. Originally, remdesivir, an antiviral medicine, was intended as the treatment for Ebola. It was developed by the US Gilead company's team headed by Czech Tomas Cihlar.
