Czech CSSD, unions criticise planned lowering of civil staff numbers

The Czech junior government Social Democrats (CSSD) and the trade unions criticise the plan of Finance Minister Alena Schillerova (for ANO) to lower the number of civil servants by 10 percent, CSSD deputy group head Jan Chvojka told reporters on Tuesday. He compared the idea of every tenth civil servant to be sacked to the "decimation system in the ancient Roman legions."
