The annual crime rate dropped for the fifth year in a row in the Czech Republic in 2018 when it decreased by 4.9 percent to 192,405 crimes, including 116 murders and 13,553 violent crimes, the police representatives told a press conference today. Police Vice-President Jaroslav Vild said 105,170 crimes, or 54.9 percent of them, were cleared up last year. He said the crime rate dropped thanks to good everyday work of the police, including crime prevention, and to people taking better care of their property and having better economic conditions.
