The Social Democrats (CSSD) asked Pavel Zacek, as the former director of the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes (USTR), about some compromising material on ANO chairman and current Prime Minister Andrej Babis in the previous election term, MP Zacek told Czech Radio, Lidove noviny (LN) said on Wednesday. Historian Zacek, deputy for the opposition right-wing Civic Democrats (ODS) since October 2017, headed the USTR from January 2008 to March 2010. In the previous election term, the CSSD was the senior ruling party in a coalition government with ANO and the Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL) headed by Social Democrat PM Bohuslav Sobotka (in office 2014-2017). Babis was finance minister in this cabinet. After ANO's crushing election victory in 2017, Babis's minority coalition government of his ANO and the CSSD was formed and kept afloat by the Communists.
