The Polish Defence Minister, Mariusz Błaszczak, announced on Monday that a contract for the purchase of four AW101 Merlin helicopters for the Navy will be signed in April. The ministry has signed a PLN 400 million (EUR 93.2 million) offset deal. The Polish Defence Ministry plans to buy four helicopters for anti-submarine warfare and combat, search and rescue (CSAR) operations. "We have signed a deal with the Leonardo company, owner of the aviation plant in Swidnik (south-eastern Poland). It precedes the chief contract for the purchase by Poland of helicopters for anti-submarine warfare, and combat, search and rescue (CSAR) operations for the Navy. The contract will be signed in April," Minister Błaszczak said.
