At its special session on Tuesday the parliamentary constitutional committee okayed a draft amendment to the law on the protection of whistleblowers under which a special office - an independent state administration body with nationwide powers - would be set up with the aim of boosting safeguards for people who report wrongdoing. The office's role will be to provide protection to whistleblowers, monitor adherence to the draft amendment, provide professional stances and consulting concerning the application of the new amendment, educate the public in the field of protecting whistleblowers and provide remuneration to whistleblowers. The office will submit a report on its activities to Parliament once a year.
