Forty-two percent of Poles admit that they throw away food, mostly bread, cold cuts and fruit, according to a report of the Federation of Polish Food Banks based on a study by the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW). Thirty-one percent of the respondents said they rarely discard food while 1.1 pct said they regularly throw out food and 9.7 pct said they sometimes get rid of food. The declared level of food waste among consumers in 2019 has not significantly changed since last year. Bread (23.7 percent), meat products (12.8 percent) and fruit (12.6 percent) are products that are most often thrown away.
