Civilian court proceedings shorter, criminal longer in Czech Republic last year

August 21st, 2019

The length of civilian proceedings at Czech district courts has been falling for a long time, reaching the average 276 days in 2018, which is 22 days fewer than in 2017, while the length of criminal proceedings rose by one day to the average of 202, the Justice Ministry's data show. The length of civilian proceedings has also dropped and the length of criminal proceedings risen at the regional courts, according to the statistical data the ministry released today. From the length's point of view, the administrative agenda remains a problematic aspect of the Czech courts' performance.
