President Andrzej Duda has asked the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) to pay more attention to violence and hate speech in mass media, the presidential spokesman, Błazej Spychalski said on Thursday. According to Spychalski, so far politicians and mass media have not paid enough attention to the problem. President Duda on Wednesday met with KRRiT members to discuss the situation in Polish media, especially the quality of public debate, the President's Office wrote in a press release. Spychalski told reporters in the Sejm (lower house) on Thursday that the president's request was received by KRRiT members with understanding, and that they promised to pay more attention to such incidents. Asked whether the president was planning to present a hate speech-related legislation, Spychalski answered that a broad debate was needed on the subject.
