The Masaryk University in Brno (MU) will bestow its top award, the Great Gold Medal, on Slovak President Andrej Kiska on January 29, when he will be decorated by MU Rector Mikulas Bek in the seat of the Faculty of Law, MU spokeswoman Tereza Fojtova told CTK today. The ceremony is a part of the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Czechoslovakia in 1918, she said. MU awards the Great Gold Medal for contributions to democracy and mankind. Bek said Kiska is a statesman who respects the values on which MU is based and which form the foundation of a democratic society.
