Babis: Prague can recommend two women as EU commissioner candidates

The Czech Republic can recommend two female candidates for EU commissioner, Prime Minister Andrej Babis wrote on Facebook on Sunday, without elaborating. The deadline for nominations expires on August 26, he added. Babis said he would like to talk about the nominations with new European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen whom he had asked for a personal meeting, but had not got any particular date yet. Babis talked with von der Leyen once before by phone. "I have explained to her exactly in which portfolio we are interested and what two candidates we can offer," he said.
