January 16th, 2020
Observances marking the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the German Nazi concentration camp on January 27, 2020 will be attended by representatives of at least 39 state delegations, the Auschwitz State Museum said on Thursday. The museum announced that guests who had confirmed their attendance recently included European Council President Charles Michel, Council of Europe Deputy Secretary General Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni and the UN Secretary-General's Special Adviser for the Prevention of Genocide, Adama Dieng. Among other guests are French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe, New Zealand Ambassador Mary Thurston, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod and Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Margulan Baimukhan. Polish President Andrzej Duda will host the ceremonies and is also honorary patron of the event. The Vatican City will be represented by Cardinal Zenon Grocholewski.
