Slovakia's transport ministry on Wednesday announced that recently analysed samples of soil used in the construction of the D4/R7 Bratislava bypass have confirmed that unauthorised substances were present in the soil, as three samples contained asbestos. Although asbestos doesn't pose a threat to human health if buried underground, handling it is dangerous and it shouldn't lie beneath a motorway. The ministry said it will take measures to eliminate the substance from the site. It has also called on the contractor for the project to remove and replace the contaminated material immediately.
