About 3,600 Polish tourists have been stranded in 29 countries, mainly in the Mediterranean basin, following the collapse of Neckermann Polska and its parent company, the British travel operator Thomas Cook, Poland's Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday. Polish consuls, who operate in countries where the Polish tourists are staying, are monitoring the situation and are available to offer assistance, the ministry said. Izabela Stelmanska from the Mazowieckie province office said that Polish tourists were being thrown out of hotels or are being held against their will in the hotels. According to her, the majority of similar cases have been reported in Tunisia. "We'll be mainly concentrating on these places," she added.
