Scientists from the Slovak Academy of Science's (SAV) Parazitological Institute have developed anti-tick socks manufactured on the basis of natural substances with a repellent effect, TASR learnt from SAV spokesperson Monika Hucakova on Wednesday. The socks will be unveiled at the international agriculture and food fair Agrokomplex due to begin in Nitra on Thursday (August 16). "Scientists will present a prototype of Prolen Tickfree functional fibre modified with natural substances that have a tick-repellent effect. Experts will show the people at Agrokomplex samples of fibres, functional textiles as well as their first commercial product - socks with an anti-tick function," said Hucakova.
